Destination security in the context of conflict

Poland is a member of NATO and the EU and, therefore, is not a party to the conflict. However, among the countries that share a border with Ukraine, it is the country receiving the most refugees from Ukraine. The gestures of solidarity, both from individual Poles and at the governmental level, have become hot topics in the Spanish media in recent weeks, which even called Poland "ground zero of solidarity." The aid is very well organized and does not significantly affect normalcy in the destination or for tourists: the tourist infrastructure is operating normally (hotels, museums, attractions, rail and air connections).

We must keep in mind that many refugees are hosted in private homes, including by Ukrainian residents, and receive financial assistance from the government. All those affected have residence and work permits, access to medical care, and participate in support programs (job placement, schooling for minors, etc.).

Poland is therefore a safe destination, as also indicated by the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Travel documents

Citizens of the European Union no longer need to present any health documents to travel to Poland, nor do they need to complete the health locator form. The perception of the destination by Spanish tourists

Interest in visiting Poland remains among Spanish tourists, although many are considering postponing their trips. We continue to receive requests for brochures and phone inquiries from individual tourists who haven't changed their travel plans, for example, to accompany family members participating in cultural and sporting events. For some, this is a show of solidarity with the Polish and Ukrainian refugees in Poland (responsible travel). We anticipate and hope that this interest will translate into increased demand once the conflict ends.

How do we operate and what are our tourism marketing plans?

As you know, we are a public institution and, as such, we must communicate reliably and transparently about all aspects related to travel to Poland. Just as during the pandemic, this remains one of our top priorities.

Our office is operating normally, developing most of the projects included in the marketing plan. Although these are challenging times, we remain hopeful for a swift recovery. Both our office and Polish destination management companies are at the disposal of tour operators, travel agents, and tourists.
